Upwind has raised $400 million in a Series C funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, less than nine months after its $250 million Series B, taking its total funding past $800 million as it builds a platform to secure cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure. SecurityWeek reports the round values the company at $3.8 billion, up from $1.5 billion at its January 2026 Series B.

Who Backed The Round

Every existing Upwind investor took part in the round, the company said, including Greylock, Cyberstarts, Craft, Salesforce Ventures, Alta Park, Picture Capital, Swish Ventures, Cerca Partners, TCV, Penny Jar and Leaders Fund. Canapi Ventures joined as a new investor, while Bessemer led the round, a breadth of participation that signals continued confidence rather than a rescue or a bridge.

Upwind, founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar, previously sold Spot.io to NetApp for $450 million, according to SecurityWeek. The company names Siemens, Roku and Nubank among its customers, and says the new capital will fuel product and engineering growth. That customer list matters, because cloud security is sold on trust as much as on technology.

The timing is striking even by the standards of a fast-moving security market. A $400 million round nine months after a $250 million round, at a valuation more than twice the previous figure, suggests investors believe Upwind’s growth is accelerating rather than levelling off, though the company itself has published no revenue figures in its announcement.

What Upwind Is Building

Upwind describes its pitch in a single phrase: security is now a cloud and AI story, not just a code story. It is building AI Sensors for endpoints, Agents and Skills scanners, and reinventing its inventory graph so it runs from endpoint to code to cloud, rather than stopping at the code repository where many security tools begin.

Inside that platform sit three AI agents with jobs. The Blue Agent investigates across log sources to build a single attack story and handles exploitation attempts at runtime, the Red Agent tests whether an exposure is exploitable so teams fix what is real and ignore the noise, and the Green Agent finds fixes that can remediate thousands of findings together.

The company also launched Upwind AI Labs in September, focused on AI security, agentic security, frontier models and advanced AI systems. The lab is presented as a research bet, giving researchers infrastructure and freedom to work on problems that will define what the industry needs next, rather than shipping features for the quarter.

Why It Matters

Cloud security funding at this scale is a bet on a simple idea: as companies run more of their work through AI agents and cloud services, the surface an attacker can reach grows faster than any single security team can watch. A platform that promises live visibility, rather than a snapshot from a periodic scan, speaks directly to that anxiety.

That promise is easy to make and hard to prove, which is why customer testimony features so prominently in Upwind’s announcement. The hybrid zero-trust approach from Skyhigh Security shows how crowded that market has become. Upwind’s own announcement leans on customer quotes to make that case, rather than publishing performance figures.

For rivals, a $3.8 billion valuation raises the stakes. Upwind is one of the most capitalised companies focused on cloud and AI security, and its next test will be turning funding into product advantage, not a sales team. The machine-speed remediation pitch from Vicarius is a reminder that speed, not just coverage, is now the competitive claim in this market.
