Legora, the Swedish legal AI company, said on Wednesday it has raised a $550 million Series E round at an $8.8 billion post-money valuation. The company’s own announcement, published on October 21 and covered the same day by Law.com and Tech.eu, says the round was led by Atreides Management and brings Legora’s total investment to more than $1.4 billion.

The valuation is up from $5.6 billion at Legora’s previous round six months ago. New investors in the Series E include Baron Capital, Capital Research, Fidelity Management & Research Company and Glade Brook Capital Partners, and every major existing investor — among them Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital — took part again.

Growth Figures Behind The Valuation

Legora says it went from $1 million to $100 million in annual recurring revenue in less than 18 months, and that the next $100 million took less than six months, taking ARR past $200 million. The company describes that first climb as faster than any other enterprise software company selling through a direct sales team — a company claim, presented as such in its announcement.

The customer mix is shifting underneath the growth. In-house legal teams, only a small fraction of Legora’s customer base a year ago, made up more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter. The United States is now Legora’s largest market by revenue, and the company says more than half of the AmLaw 50 — the fifty largest US law firms by revenue — are customers, even though it opened its first US office only in spring 2025.

What The Money Is For

Legora says the capital will fund expansion into new markets and further investment in Legora aOS, the agentic operating system it sells to legal professionals. The product positioning mirrors the market’s shift: legal teams are moving beyond AI assistants that answer questions toward agents that carry out multi-step work — researching, reviewing and drafting — and Legora’s footprint is expanding to meet that shift, the announcement says.

Tech.eu notes the company deliberately built the round around investors with a long time horizon, mixing long-term holders with institutions that work with law firms and in-house legal teams daily. Law.com reports the proceeds are earmarked for continued expansion in the US and other markets alongside aOS development. Legora already lists offices across North America — New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City — alongside its European and Asia-Pacific markets.

Why It Matters

Legora’s Series E matters because legal work has become the clearest test of whether AI agents can sell into a conservative, high-value profession at enterprise prices. A $550 million round six months after the last one, at a valuation up more than half again, says institutional money — Fidelity, Capital Group and their peers, not just venture firms — now treats the legal AI workspace as a durable category rather than a feature race. The competitive pressure lands on US rival Harvey and on the generalist labs: when more than half of the largest US firms standardise on a specialist’s agent platform, the specialist owns the workflow, the data and the renewal.

Background

Legora is a Stockholm-founded legal AI company, roughly three years old, that sells research, review and drafting tools to law firms and in-house teams. Its rise has tracked the profession’s move from chatbots to agents: an earlier $550 million Series D in March 2026 valued it at about $5.6 billion, and the Sirion contract-management integration announced earlier this month showed it pushing into adjacent legal workflows.
